Wilma D. Bowman Wilma Doris Bowman of Neodesha died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Wilson Medical Center-Reece Campus. She was 89. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the First Church of God under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Leslie Griffith will officiate. Inurnment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. The daughter of William Louis and Blanche Showalter Singhurst, she was born December 20, 1918, in St. Paul, KS. She graduated from Erie High School. She was united in marriage to Walter Rollin Bowman in Girard, KS. Following their marriage, they moved to Los Angeles, CA. While in California, she worked for Van de Kamp Bakery and later as a machinist. In 1972, she moved with her husband to Neodesha. Mr. Bowman preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1992. Wilma was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Neodesha and served as a volunteer at the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library for several years. She also was an avid bowler and was a member of the Womens Bowling Association. Survivors include two brothers, Louis Singhurst of Neodesha and Glen Singhurst of Wyoming, MI; and one sister, Leone Amrine of Roseville, CA. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library and may be left with the funeral home.
