Wayne E Prosser, age 95, of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away Wednesday January 31,2018 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, KS.
Celebration of Wayne's life as a faithful servant to God and to our country will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Neodesha, KS on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel.
Wayne was born August 18,1922 all though he celebrated his birthday on the 17th all of his life. His
parents were William A and Laura (Trece) Prosser. Wayne was born in Lebo, Kansas. When Wayne was 3 years old his family moved to Attica, KS, from there they moved to Neodesha, KS. Wayne graduated from Neodesha High School.
Wayne enlisted in the US Air Force in October of 1942. While serving our country he was a waist
gunner. On one of the missions his plane was hit while over Germany and he had to bail out. When
he hit the ground he was captured by German soldiers. He spent the next 10 months as a POW.
Wayne received an Honorable Discharge on October 20,1945. When he returned to Neodesha
he met and married Virginia Reynolds on October 5, 1946. Wayne and Virginia had 2 sons DeWayne
and Gregory Prosser. In 1951 Wayne went to work for Standard Oil, when it closed he transferred to
Alvin, Texas. Wayne took early retirement in 1978 and he and Virginia moved back to their farm east
of Neodesha.
Wayne enjoyed being outdoors farming, just sitting outside enjoying God's world and playing with his dog. Wayne loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and children in general. Wayne was a long time member of Bible Baptist Church here in Neodesha, beginning sometime around 1965 after he accepted Jesus as his savior. He held various positions in the church. The position I think he enjoyed
most was picking up children on the church bus. He was also a leader in the childrens AWANA Program.
Survivors include one brother Karlos Prosser and wife Jean of Jefferson City, MO, a daughter-in-law
Elaine Prosser of the home, three grandchildren Kelly Johnson and husband Brent of Lynchburg VA,
Chad Prosser and wife Suzannah of Waxhaw, NC, Jeremy Prosser and wife Jacqueline of Sevierville, TN, four great-grandchildren, Haylie and Dayna Johnson, Jacob and Elijah Prosser, five "adopted" great-grandchildren who also called him papaw, Megan, Josiah, Benjamin, Cody and Elizabeth.
