Wayne Gibson

Wayne P. Gibson Wayne Paul Gibson of Cherryvale, KS, and a longtime resident of the Neodesha, KS, area died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center-Reese Campus in Neodesha. He was 93. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 4, 2009, at the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Richards will officiate. Mr. Gibson will lie in state from 8 a.m-5 p.m. Tuesday. The son of Earl and Verna B. Beard Gibson, he was born February 18, 1916, in Neodesha, KS. He was raised in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1935. On November 25, 1936, he was united in marriage to Donna L. Arnold in Erie, KS. She survives at the Cherryvale Care Center in Cherryvale, KS. Mr. Gibson was employed by the Standard Oil Refinery in Neodesha for 33 years and retired as foreman. He also farmed south of Neodesha for a number of years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Sam Gibson of rural Neodesha, KS; five grandchildren, Tim and Holly Adee, Will Gibson, Amy Nitza and Heidi Cripe; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dean Gibson; one daughter, Paula Adee; and one brother, Wavel Gibson.
