Velma Mae (Reno) Marler age 96 of Neodesha, KS. passed away Thursday January 17, 2019 at Morningstar Care Home in Neodesha, KS.
A Celebration of life service will be Monday January 21, 2019 at 10:00am at the Church of The Nazarene in Neodesha, KS.
Velma Mae Reno was born at Yates Center, KS. to Clarence Ralph Reno and Alice Hazel (Sellers) Reno on June 12, 1922.
She lived and attended school in Fredonia, Kansas. She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1940.
She worked at Kansas Bank Note Company before her marriage to Lloyd (Jack) Francis Marler on July 28, 1945 at the Baptist parsonage in Fredonia. She was a housewife and helped with the family used car business in Neodesha.
She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Fredonia and attended the Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha since 1956. She worked on the church flower and shower committees, helped with the church dinners and worked in the Sunday School office for years.
She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary and worked as a volunteer. Was a den mother and helped with Cub Scouts, helped with school breakfast, the blood mobile and election board.
Those surviving are son, Richard Dean Marler and wife Gail of Neodesha and daughter Shirley Jean (Marler) Shafer and husband Gordon of Fredonia. And Granddaughter Crystal Stone and husband Paul, Michael Marler, Zachary Marler, Paque Shafer and Kaylie and husband John Griekspoor, sisters Pat Hale and husband Don of Wichita and JoAnne Radabaugh of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 62 wonderful years, Lloyd (Jack) Marler, her parents, Ralph and Hazel Reno, brother Curtis Eugene Reno and wife Georgia, sister Olive Virginia (Reno) Clynch and Husband Frank, sister Gladys Rose (Reno) McLaren and husband Earland, sister Joyce (Reno) Dewey and husband Joyce Dewey, brother in laws Walter Radabaugh, Ed Sandborn and Floyd (Shorty) Marler and wife Wilma, nieces Joyce (Marler) Livingston and Jolene (Marler) Secrest.
