Stephen Charles Kammerer, 64 of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home.
At his request cremation will take place. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Neodesha Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha, Kansas.
Stephen Charles Kammerer was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 9, 1949, son of Lewis Allen and Mary Alice Katzer Kammerer. He graduated NHS in 1967. Stephen enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 served until 1972. Served in Viet Nam, October 1968 to October 1969 as Gun Fire Control Tech, on the heavy Cruiser U.S.S. Newport News. He received an honorable discharge in 1972. After his discharge he stayed around the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area working in construction. Later moving to Mt. Pleasant, PA in 1976 and worked in a coal mine in New Florence as an underground mechanic until a mining accident in late 1977 ended his mining career. He then moved back to Neodesha in late 1978.
Stephen married Debbie S. Bolton in 1979 and had one son, Scott Lewis Kammerer on July 27, 1979. The couple later divorced. Stephen worked construction in Neodesha he last worked for Contractors Engineer Inc. until his health issues in December of 2007.
Survivors include a son, Scott L. Kammerer one brother, Bob Kammerer one niece Kacy.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Lewis Allen and Mary Alice Kammerer.
