Sibyl Patricia (Showers) Fields 86 of Fredonia, Kansas. Sibyl passed away Friday June 22, 2018 at her home in Fredonia, Kansas. She wished to transfer her membership from Zion Lutheran Church Independence, KS. to her father's heavenly Kingdom.
Sibyl was born on July 29, 1931 at her parent's home in Wichita, KS. Sibyl's parents were Rex & Peral Showers they precede her in death. Sibyl had 2 sisters Rexene and Cecile Mae who also preceded her in death. Her schooling was in Neodesha public schools, Sibyl skip her Junior year in High School, and graduated in 1948 instead of 1949, she received her BA from McPherson College and her Masters of Arts from Western New Mexico University at Silver City NM.
On July 31st, 1948 she married her childhood friend and sweetheart James William (Bill) Fields. Sibyl was Raised on her parent's cattle ranch, The Lighting Ranch West of Neodesha, KS. James & Sibyl had 2 sons Gary who is an Engineer for water development at Las Vegas NV. Gary and his wife Sherry have one son Ryan and great grandson Rhyker and Mart who is an Aeronautical Engineer and married to Nancy and they have a son Josh.
Sibyl taught special-ED to Mid High School students in Grants, Gallup Lovington NM. And Wichita, KS. She also taught at I.O.L (Heartsprings, NM.) six years of teaching in New Mexico was on the Navajo Reservation, she enjoyed and learn a lot from the Navajo culture, James & Sibyl reopened and overseen the Navajo Lutheran Church at Navajo NM.
While in Neodesha James & Sibyl adopted a teenage daughter Cathy and started a Foster Home, they were parents of 71 children, their impact on children's lives were Immeasurable. They were extra ordinary Individuals whose vast Knowledge, Guidance's, and Love of Life changed the course of many Children. Their many years in Church and Mission work on the Navajo Reservation in the Four Corners Area, were a testament of their resilience, Personal Responsibility and the Triumph of spirt they had many fantastic friends though life, their Faith in God and humanity gave them a unique and Inspirational Outlook on Life.
Sibyl would say "Life is a Journey with many Roads to take" Sibyl had an Amazing Journey.
Graveside services will be Wednesday June 27, 2018 at 10:00am at Neodesha Cemetery in Neodesha, KS under direction of Loran Fawcett chapel of Neodesha, KS.A memorial has been established with the Zion Lutheran Church of Independence, KS. and Heartsprings.
