Shirley M. Grabner Shirley Marie Vandaveer Grabner of Munster, Indiana, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Munster Community Hospital. She was 80. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Neodesha under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverends Stephen Baxter and Eugene Grabner will officiate. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Walter Ralph and Annis Melinda Foster Vandaveer Sr., she was born February 22, 1926, in Neodesha, Kansas, where she graduated from Neodesha High School. On April 20, 1947, she married Richard Grabner. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary April 20, 2006. The couple lived in Neodesha while Mr. Grabner was employed at American Oil Refinery. They moved to Indiana when Mr. Grabner was transferred after the closure of the local refinery. He survives at the home. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, loved to play bridge and cook. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dick and daughter-in-law of Neodesha; one daughter, Jan and son-in-law, Dale Sprinkle of Tell City, IN; four grandchildren, Josh and Lacy Grabner and Jessica and Jaclyn Sprinkle. She is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Vandaveer Jr.; and one grandson, Ricky Grabner. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilson County Hospital Wound Care Center.
