Sarah F. Groth Sarah Freda Groth of Pittsburg, KS, formerly of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg. She was 84. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the First Church of God, 816 Iowa, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Ron Thomke and Harold Groth will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call to register from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The daughter of William Walker and Mattie Elizabeth Newman, Kaylor, she was born April 20, 1925, in Bybee, KY. She graduated from Martinsville High School in Martinsville, IN, in 1942. On December 4, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Sarge Groth in Martinsville, IN. The couple lived in a variety of locations while Mr. Groth was in the US Air Force. After residing in Sycamore, KS, the couple lived in Independence, KS before moving to Neodesha in 1974. Mr. Groth preceded her in death May 14, 1998. Following his death, Mrs. Groth lived in Fredonia, Abilene, KS, before moving to Pittsburg. Survivors include four sons, Robert M. Groth and John W. Groth of Fredonia, KS, Larry J. Groth of Ft. Leonardwood, MO, and Charles C. Groth of Schertz, TX; three daughters, Linda R. Mills of Abilene, KS, Esther I. Beecham of Pittsburg, KS, and Sandra K. Moore of Chanute, KS; two sisters, Mattie Elizabeth Stier of Waukesha, WI, and Lula Estelle Brummett of Martinsville, IN; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Robert, Jack, Jerry, Victor and Guy; and two sisters, Valeda and Naomi; and one grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to Guest House Estates IV at 1910 E. Centennial, Pittsburg, KS 66762 and may be left at the funeral home.
