Ruth Thurman

Ruth J. Thurman, age 87 of Rural Altoona, Kansas passed away at her home in rural Altoona, Kansas on Friday, December 4, 2015.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Loran Fawcett Chapel. Burial will follow in the Neodesha City Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Chapel.

Ruth was born January 17, 1927 in Neodesha, Kansas. The daughter of Frank and Stella (Young) Kebert. She grew up and attended schools in Neodesha, Kansas. On November 19, 1948 Ruth married Donald E. Thurman in Neodesha, Kansas. The couple moved to their home in Altoona in 1983. Ruth loved to grow flowers in her yard.

Ruth worked at several different factories in the area. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Neodesha, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband Donald of the home; one son Michael and wife Gail of Selma, Oregon; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Janet Thurman, seven sisters and four brothers.
