Ruth Greer Helen Ruth Ruthie Greer of Neodesha, KS, was found deceased at her home Monday, February 13, 2006. She was 80. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the United Methodist Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor Les Griffith and Rev. Kris Brinlee will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Royal Johnson and Helen Neola Monroe Patchin, she was born August 4, 1925, in Neodesha, Kansas. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1943. On October 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to Frank Greer in Neodesha. He survives at the home. Ruthie was employed for 10 years at The Toggery as a sales clerk before retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Church of God, where she taught Sunday school, the Eastern Star, the Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary, and was the last surviving charter member of VFW Post 5962 Ladies Auxiliary. For many years, she was a greeter at the annual Neodesha High School Alumni Reunion and was selected as the Outstanding Local Alumnus of the Year in 1992. For nearly 15 years, she faithfully delivered the weekly paper to patients at the Wilson County Hospital. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Shirley Padley of Gainsville, TX; one granddaughter, Mondi Sterling of North Carolina; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Johnnie Greer; two brothers, Bob and Esley; one sister, Rosemary; an infant sister; and one grandchild, Christopher Greer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God of Neodesha and may be left at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.penwellgabal.com.
