Ruth Coltrain

Coltrain, Ruth Marie, 89, died Thursday, July 28, 2011. A memorial service to commemorate her life and her unwavering faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ will be held, August 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church, Wichita. Ruth was born Feb. 11, 1922 to Samuel and Dora Hemphill in Lewis, KS. She graduated from Baxter Springs High School and Kansas State College of Pittsburg. She married Charles Coltrain in 1946 in Lawrence. They lived in Neodesha most of their lives before recently moving to Benton. They were faithful members of the Bethel Church of God in Neodesha. Ruth taught in rural elementary schools in Cherokee and Wilson counties and Heller Elementary in Neodesha. She retired from Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha after caring for the elderly for 17 years. Preceding her in death were a son, Charles Eugene Coltrain, and a granddaughter Megan Coltrain. Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles sons Tom Jean Coltrain of Fort Wayne, Indiana Terry Jo Coltrain of Park City and a daughter Judy Jeffery Ketchum of Benton seven grandchildren, Alan Tanya Coltrain, Andrea Chad McKenna James Coltrain Tim Coltrain Andrew Alex Coltrain Laura Ketchum Anna Ketchum and one greatgranddaughter, Kylie Coltrain. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the contributors favorite charity.
