Ron Singhurst

Ron Ronnie Ray Singhurst, 68, Independence, Kansas died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 12:00 8:00 PM Thursday, May 3, 2012 at PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00 8:00 PM at the chapel. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday May 4, 2012 at Lighthouse Community Church of God in Neodesha with burial to follow in Neodesha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Home Sweet Homeless Shelter in Independence and may be left with the funeral home. Ron was bon May 6, 1943, in Thayer, Kansas to Louis and Dorothy Beeman Singhurst. He graduated from Neodesha High School Class of 1961. Ron also graduated from Independence Junior College and attended the University of North Texas. Ron married Patricia Jean Van Kempema in 1966 and the couple later divorced. He then married Betty Jean Smith Singhurst on September 23, 1990. Ron served in the National Guard and was active in the Lions Club Independence Bowling League, a member of Trouts Unlimited, and served as president of the Plano Youth Soccer Association, and the YMCA Wrestling Team. Ron will be remembered as a countrywestern dancer, gardener, hunter, mighty fisherman, coach, best father and grandfather in the whole world. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Singhurst, Neodesha, KS wife Betty Jean Singhurst, Independence, KS sister and brother in law Pam and Keith Fields, Neodesha, KS son and daughterinlaw, Jason and Liz Singhurst, Austin, TX daughter and soninlaw Chrystal Smith and Randy Lukens, Dearing, KS son, James Smith, Winfield, KS four grandchildren Erin Smith, Tommy Lukens, Ava Singhurst, and Ruby Singhurst, step motherin law Donna Woods, Independence, KS ex wife Patricia and husband Doug Manifold, Ogden, UT and many other family and friends.
