Rodney Leon Cook passed away at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Rodney was born on September 12, 1947, in Neodesha, Kansas to Don and Dorothy (Anderson) Cook. After graduating from Neodesha High School, he attended Pittsburg State University, earning his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in architecture. Through the years Rodney earned numerous awards for his work in architecture. His hands helped design and build countless homes in the Neodesha and surrounding communities. On June 18, 1977, Rodney married his lifelong companion Elva. In Rodney’s free time he loved to go fishing and hunting. In his younger years he is remembered for his abilities behind a boat water skiing. Rodney also loved to cheer on his favorite NFL football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed watching his favorite NASCASR driver, Jeff Gordon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dorothy, sons, Kyle and Shane and one grandson, Aaron.
Rodney’s memory will carry on with his wife Elva Cook, son, Chris (Arlene) Cook, two daughters, Kimberly Readdy, and Tricia Wetmore, two brothers, Randy and Robert Cook, sister, Donnita Grogan, ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel and the family will hold a graveside service at a later date.
