Robert S. Cranor Robert S. Cranor of Independence, KS, formerly of Altoona, KS, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Heatherwood Estate. He was 99. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. Pastor Jim Raymond will officiate. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call Friday beginning at 9 a.m. The family will receive friends from noon to service time on Friday. The son of Edward L. and Gertrude Middleton Cranor, he was born November 15, 1907, in Altoona, KS. He attended rural Altoona schools. Mr. Cranor served with the US Army in the European Theater with the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. Before retiring, he was a road construction crew member. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Survivors include two sisters, Norene Johnson of Lancaster, CA, and Lela Lehman of Sacramento, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Although he had no children of his own, he was always available to be supportive to all his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Austin, Clyde, Earl, Edwin, Harold and Jay; and five sisters, Blanche, Ethel, Grace, Nellie and Ruby.
