Richard Wiles

September 23, 1927 — November 11, 2018

Richard Eugene "Rich" Wiles of Altoona, KS, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, in Neodesha. He was 91.
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at the Loran Fawcett Chapel, followed by his funeral service at 2 p.m.
A Masonic graveside service will follow at the Altoona Cemetery. His Masonic brothers will serve as his casketbearers.
Richard was born Sept. 23, 1927, "on a fencepost" near Altoona to Irvin Joseph and Maxine (Lour) Wiles.
He spent his childhood in Garnett, KS, and later graduated from Altoona Rural High School.
Richard was united in marriage to Pearl Maxine Lour on May 22, 1949. She preceded him in death.
He later married Elvalen Harwood and she survives.
Richard was employed by the American Oil Co. in Neodesha and later inTexas City, TX.
He was a member and Past Master of Harmony Lodge #94 A.F & A.M. in Neodesha, the LaMarque Lodge #1325 and the Altoona Lions Club.
Richard enjoyed sports in high school and carpentry. He built two homes in rural Altoona, KS.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Robert Eugene Wiles (Amy Ransom) of Rochester, MN, Lonnie Joe (Linda) Wiles of LaMarque, TX, David Lynn Wiles (Tammy VanFossen) of Humboldt and Jeffrey Todd Wiles (Anna) of Leander, TX; one sister, Margaret (Bob) Troutman, of Tribune, KS; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Samuel Wiles; two sisters, Winifred Denzler and Roberta Forsythe; and one nephew, Charles Lester "Skeet" Wiles.
