Col. Raymond Claibourn, 81, of Neodesha, passed away December 9th, 2014 at Via ChristiSt. Francis Hospice unit in Wichita.
At his request, cremation has taken place under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Graveside services will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, December 13th, 2014 at the Grandview Cemetery. The family has requested that donors who would like to donate blood to the American Red Cross in Raymonds memory or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Raymond was born May 16, 1933 in Elk City, Kansas. He was the son of Oren O. and Florence Henderson Claibourn. He grew up and attended school in the Coyville and Fredonia area. Raymond married Vonnie Stafford on April 16, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives at the home. He worked at the aircraft plants in Wichita till 1965 when they moved to Neodesha.
He graduated from Kansas City Auctioneer School in 1964 and became a well known auctioneer in this area. He loved to raise Little Jack Russell dogs and have fish fries.
Raymond is survived by his wife, two sons Darrel and wife Gerri Claibourn of Neodesha, KS., and Danny and wife Karen Claibourn of Neodesha, KS., one daughter Sondra and husband Steve Jensen of Neodesha, KS., grandchildren Stacy, Sarah, Scott, Bryan, Derek, Tyler, Lance, Austyn, Ashley, Nathan and Jacinda, and 16 greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson.
