Peggy Collins

Peggy O. Collins, age 82 formerly of Altoona, Kansas passed away on February 5, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas.


Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Verdigas Valley Christian Fellowship Church in Altoona, Kansas. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 1 to 5 pm with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 pm at the Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to be made to the American Diabetes Association and can be left with the funeral home. Internment will take place following the service at the Altoona Cemetery, in Altoona, Kansas under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel.


Peggy was born on August 12, 1931 in Neodesha, Kansas to Oren L. and Eva Fayrene Kenworthy Dickens. She grew up in Neodesha and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1949. She married Loren G. Collins on May 19, 1950 in Fredonia, Kansas and they lived in Altoona all their married life.


Peggy worked at a CNA CMA for the Golden Keys and Neodesha Nursing Home now known as the Golden Living Nursing Home. She later worked in the laundry and dietary for the nursing home until retirement.


Survivors are two sons, Mike Collins of Altoona, Kansas, Chuck Collins of San Jose, California three daughters, Eva Shay husband Mike, Ellen Smith and husband Jim all of Altoona, Kansas, Terri Halfmann and husband Bert of Emporia, Kansas one brother, Albert Dickens of Chanute, Kansas two sisters, Patricia Mc Bride of Cherryvale, Kansas and Sue Hadaegh of Parsons, Kansas sixteen grandchildren and twentyfour great grandchildren.


In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Shylene Smith and Sara Collins one great granddaughter, Shalee Collins one brother and two sisters.
