PAT G. WILSON, SR. Pat G. Wilson, Sr, 81, of Neodesha, Kansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior early Friday morning, December 08, 2006 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha. He was born on September 6, 1925 in Los Angeles, California. His parents were George Pat Wilson and Opal Helen Lansford-Wilson. Pat grew up and attended school in California. The day after turning 17 years old, he entered the U.S. Navy to proudly serve his country during World War II. Following three years and two months of faithful duty overseas, he was honorably discharged and returned home to Laverne, Oklahoma. There waiting to be his bride was a young lady by the name of Nancy Josephine Holmes. They were married on February 10, 1946 in Ashland, Kansas and together raised seven children. Pat worked as a dairyman and farmer for nearly 26 years before changing careers. His family lived in Laverne from 1946 to 1952, Jefferson, Kansas from 1952 to 1969 and then back to Laverne from 1969 to 1972. In 1972 they moved to Oklahoma City where he attended the Sooner Trade School to become a licensed plumber, heating and air conditioning technician. After receiving his licenses, they moved to Woodward, Oklahoma and in 1975 they made their permanent home in Neodesha, Kansas. While living in Neodesha, he worked in new construction and remodeling until he retired. In his earlier years of life, Pat enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. In his later years, he became an avid gardener and enjoyed supplying his children and grandchildren annually with vegetables. He was a member of the Neodesha VFW, the DAV and the American Legion. For many years he attended the Lords Church now the Christ Church in Neodesha and for the past several years because of his failing health he enjoyed spending time with his family, staying at home watching Christian TV, listening to Christian music, feeding and watching wild birds. He will be remembered for his faith in Jesus Christ and his love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Opal Wilson, his step father, Ted Wilson, his sister, Marie Hayes, his brother, Charles Wilson and his brother-in-law, Don Ward. Pat is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Wilson of the home in rural Neodesha; seven children and their spouses, Pat and Anita Wilson of rural Neodesha, Kansas, Priscilla and Dannie Hutchinson of Neodesha, Kansas, Meggin and Doug Blex of rural Independence, Kansas, Kathy and David Boone of Clinton, Oklahoma, Opal and Dick Chapman of Altus, Kansas, Paul and Mary Wilson of Wichita, Kansas and Tim and Gale Wilson of Purcell, Oklahoma; twenty six grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Stanfill and her husband, Wayne of Corona, California, Dorothy Ward of Springhill, Florida, and Loretta Kinsler of Springhill, Florida; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation hours for Pat will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Funeral services for Pat G. Wilson, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Christ Church, 101 W. Elm, Neodesha, Kansas with Reverend Dave Cheshier officiating. Casket bearers will be grandsons, Dannie L. Hutchinson, Donnovan L. Hutchinson, H. Vincent Walls, John L. Boone, George P. Wilson IV, James L. Boone, and Adriel S. Wilson. Interment will follow at the Neodesha City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice. Memorials may be left with the funeral home staff.
