Nancy Hanna

April 13, 1936 — December 11, 2017

Nancy Joan Hanna was born April 13, 1936, daughter of Ernest and Willa Scott of Altoona KS. Nancy was a life long Wilson County resident. She married the love of her life David M. Hanna Jr. on October 23, 1955. In the years that followed, they had four children, three sons, and one daughter, ten grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Over the years Nancy and David instilled strong values in their children, among these were; a hard work ethic and generosity. Nancy held a variety of jobs, some remember her from First National Bank of Neodesha, many others from her days managing the Peter Pan restaurant, still others remember her smiling and welcoming ways at G & W Foods.

Nancy also loved to travel, shop, cook and play BINGO with her friends. Nancy was famous among her friends and family for her homemade chicken and noodles and scrumptious cherry pies. Nancy was particularly proud of her years of service as a Democratic chairperson and campaign manager for Gov. Robert Docking.

Nancy is preceded in death by her darling daughter, Teresa Anne and her husband of fifty years, David. Survivors include, sons, Greg and Lucy Hanna of Topeka, KS., Stephen Hanna of Chanute, KS., Todd and Donna Hanna of Neodesha, KS., brother, Norman and Treva Scott of Neodesha, KS., sisters, Susan Bischoff of Tulsa, OK., Nettie and Charlie Varnell of Penscola, FL., ten grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the family greeting friends from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Bible Baptist Church in Neodesha with graveside following at Altoona Cemetery. The family has requested any memorial be made to the Bible Baptist Church and may be left at Loran Fawcett Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
