Miriam C. Fail Miriam Clenys Fail of rural Altoona, KS, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS. She was 84. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 17, 2011, at Altoona Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. The daughter of John Conrad and Elizabeth Jones Gronquist, she was born April 28, 1927, in Garrison, KS. She graduated from Alma High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Donald R. Fail on August 16, 1947, in Fredonia, KS. He preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Fail was a bookkeeper for the Farmers Union Grocery Store in Alma, KS and later served as a waitress in Almas Jayhawk Hotel restaurant as well as McFarlands Restaurant in Topeka. She later was employed at the Parsons Ordinance Plant and the Wilson County Appraisers Office. Survivors include two sons, Charles Richard Fail and his wife Freida of Rio Rico, AZ, and Randall Rodger Fail of Andover, KS one sister Iryllis Dee Puff of Topeka, KS one brother Bradford Winston Gronquist of Florida four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents two daughters, Carolyn Mae and Linda JoAnne two sisters Beverly Jean Papalauma and Juanita TenEyck and one brother, Galyn Garwood Gronquist.
