Michael “Mike” Wayne Green went peacefully to his heavenly home on October 1, 2021, surrounded by family.
Mike was born on July 7, 1947 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Fred and Geneva (Carpenter) Green. His family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas when he was 3 years old. Upon his graduation from Nickerson High School, Michael joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for four years. It was during this time that he became interested in flying so used his GI Bill to obtain flying lessons. Mike began his career in the air by working as a flight instructor, but soon moved on to other areas. Throughout the years he worked as a corporate pilot, an air ambulance pilot, and a charter pilot. He also worked as Chief pilot for Eagle Med and later Flight Concepts, eventually taking on the role as Director of Operations.
In addition to flying, Mike enjoyed hunting, skiing, and any activity that had to do with being outside. He was a man of vast knowledge who loved to read, loved a good debate, and gave great advice. He had a great sense of humor and appreciated a good joke as well. He could build or fix anything and enjoyed many hours in his very organized shop. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, dad, grandpa and friend who loved his family fiercely and who put God first in all he did. While his absence will be felt every day, his memory will be kept alive by all who loved and cherished him.
Mike married Mary Margaret Astle on July 7, 1978 in Hutchinson, Kansas. They raised three daughters together. Throughout their life they lived in Park City, Valley Center, and now Neodesha for 13 years.
Mike is survived by his wife Mary Green who resides in the home; His daughter Trenda Adams (Wichita); His daughter Melissa Johnson and her husband Billy (Neodesha); His brother Bruce Green and his wife Madeline (Lenexa); His sister Annell Reece and her husband Ed (Missouri City, Tx.); Along with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
