Mercedes was born December 9, 1998 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Freedom Anderson and Waylon Tyler. As a child, Mercedes was known for her sheer spunk, charming wit and ornery grin. In addition to her intellect and charisma, Mercedes was an outgoing and adventurous girl; all attributing to the remarkable young lady we all know and love. Mercedes was involved in dance and very active in the Neodesha Girl Scouts, volunteering multiple hours of community service. Vacations with family, slumber parties, and time with her family and friends are cherished memories. As a teen she was involved with the Union Marching Band through her junior year of high school. She excelled tremendously in school as well as in music until choosing to focus course study more towards her college major. Mercedes graduated Union High School in 2017 with honors, and then pursued further academic endeavors at Oklahoma State University. There she concentrated her studies in Human Development and Family Sciences with an option in Child and Family Services. Mercedes loved animals; adopting 2 cats, Jinx and Jasper, from a local shelter. This heartfelt compassion found no boundaries as she would often nanny for close friends and family. Her sincere kindness and adoration of others was contagious. Mercedes was employed by Brightway Community Living, an intellectual disability agency serving the Oklahoma City area since May 2018.
Mercedes was nothing short of amazing; a smart, ambitious, outgoing girl with a smile and laugh that could light the darkest of days. With her shining personality, Mercedes always found herself surrounded by those drawn to her spark. Mercedes never met a stranger and was sure to leave everyone she encountered with a smile.
