Mary Anderes

Mary J. Anderes Mary Jane Anderes of Neodesha, KS, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She was 84. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor DeWayne Prosser will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Mrs. Anderes will lie in state Thursday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. The daughter of George Edward and Gertrude Kingsberry Burns, she was born April 27, 1924, in Arkansas City, KS. She moved to Wilson County as a young girl and attended school in Benedict, KS. On July 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Iven E. Anderes in Fredonia, KS. He preceded her in death in January of 1982. Mrs. Anderes was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Neodesha VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include one son, Iven Anderes Jr. of Kearney, MO; one daughter, Vickie Secrest of Neodesha; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frank; and three sisters, Joan Blake, Fern Burns, and Yvonne Ramsey. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 5962 Ladies Auxiliary and may be left at the funeral home.
