Marvin Lee Shoop
Marvin went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2021, at Neodesha Care and Rehab Center with his family by his side.
Marvin was born on April 4, 1931, to Walter Wayne Shoop and Ruth Larcom in Neodesha, Kansas. He attended the Neodesha school system, graduating from Neodesha High School. He met the love of his life his junior year of high school, Naomi Yvonne Taylor. The two even shared the same birth date. On June 4, 1950, Marvin and Yvonne were wed at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha. The two were married 64 years until Yvonne’s passing in 2014. From this union they welcomed three children, Raymond Wayne, Beth Ann and Carter Lee.
Marvin worked in the oilfields of Wyoming for a year, Standard Oil Company for nine years, and MEC for twenty-five years until his retirement. Working for MEC granted Marvin the luxury of travelling the United States, visiting 49 of the 50 states, travelling through Europe and Canada. He was blessed with travelling with his wife Yvonne on many of these trips.
Marvin loved fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, watching KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs, and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He was often seen with his video recorder on his shoulder at each and every event.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Shoop, his beloved wife, Naomi Yvonne Shoop, son, Carter Lee Shoop and brothers, Orville and Walt Shoop.
His memory will carry on with his son, Raymond and wife Sharon Shoop of Cherryvale, daughter, Beth Shinkle of Neodesha, daughter-in-law, Betty Shoop of Neodesha, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren with one more on the way, brother, Bud and wife Barbara Shoop of Neodesha, and sisters, Ruth McWhirt of Hawaii and Ester Martin of Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at the Christ Church in Neodesha on Monday, June 14th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Joseph Dodson officiating. Marvin will then be laid to rest next to his dear wife at Neodesha Cemetery. To leave the family a special message of condolence, please visit www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
