Marvin E. Jeffers Marvin Eugene Jeffers of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus Emergency Room. He was 89. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Grace Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Logan will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The son of John Henry and Lida Lang Jeffers, he was born November 5, 1919, in Mason City, Iowa. On November 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Mildred Lea Endsley in Chanute. She survives at the home. Before moving to Neodesha, Mr. Jeffers was a mechanic at Martin Tractor in Chanute for many years before retiring. He was former resident of Weslaco, TX, and Fredonia as well. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and a former member of the Elks Lodge. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenneth D. Jeffers of OFallon, MO; two daughters, Karol J. Foster of Spartanburg, SC, and Karla D. Holtzman of Neodesha; one sister, Mildred Unruh of Hutchinson, KS; three grandchildren, Scot Jeffers, Cassandra Felts, and Karina Holtzman; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Phillip; one sister, Edith; and one grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
