Marjorie Hemme Marjorie V. Lamb Hemme of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at her home with her children at her bedside. She was 89. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Pastor Jeremiah Baird of the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia will officiate. Friends may call to register Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Marjorie Hemme was born January 22, 1919, to Merritt and Flora Klatt Lamb in Rural Elk City, KS. At one year of age, the family moved to Elk County north of Longton, KS. She attended a rural school by the name of Illinois in Elk County. She married Edward Hemme of Elk City on August 17, 1939. They lived in Arizona for two years before moving to Wilson County, KS. To this union were born two daughters and two sons. Her husband preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Neodesha and had been a deaconess, a member of the church choir and a member of the church board of directors. She dedicated her life to God and tried to live her life accordingly. Survivors include two sons, Keith Hemme of Merritt Island, FL, and Don Hemme of Redvale, CO; two daughters, Linda Conley and her husband Gary of Fredonia, KS, and Nancy Manale of Independence, KS; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. In addition her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mable Foster, Millie Holtsclaw, Mae Vestal, and Lorena Davidson; and one brother, Dale Lamb.
