Marcia Estell (Caskey) Baumwart
Marcia (Marti) Estell Baumwart, 77, of rural Neodesha passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 24, 2018 at Wilson County Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel.
Marcia was born December 16, 1940 to Maurice and Mavis (Norwood) Caskey in Neodesha, KS. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1958 and attended Baker University, member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and represented Baker as a Varsity Cheerleader.
She was employed at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as a Litho Artist from 1960-1964.
Marcia married Lloyd Baumwart of Ponca City, OK on December 31, 1960 in Neodesha. They returned in 1967 to establish a dental practice in Neodesha.
Marcia became a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, PEO, Past President of the United Methodist Women. She served on the USD 461 Board of Education for 12 years and worked as a paraprofessional for Special Education for Neodesha Schools.
Her artwork was seen around Neodesha, as she designed the Neodesha Bicentennial Commemorative coin, the Neodesha City Logo, and the football stadium athletic motifs.
She enjoyed reading, sitting on the front porch and watching the birds with 3 bird books on her lap. She self-published a coffee table photograph book, "0 to 35 MPH" in 2006 about the back roads of Wilson County. She loved to create multimedia art, sit with her dogs, photograph birds, and host family gatherings.
Marcia is survived by: Lloyd Baumwart of the home. Her three children, Karl Baumwart Rochester NY, Jennifer Peterson Brownwood TX, Matt Baumwart Emporia KS. Sister, Sandra (Caskey) Savage Ravenna KY. Their spouses, Miranda Wilcox-Baumwart, David Peterson, and Deidra Baumwart; grandchildren Jonathon Peterson, Nicole Peterson, Haley Henning, Bryce Baumwart, Hayden Baumwart, and Case Baumwart; grand-daughter-in-law, Paige Peterson; and great grandchildren Kieran and Ryker Peterson.
Memorials are suggested to the Neodesha United Methodist Church or to a Charity of your choice. Memorials may be sent in care of Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS. A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
