Louise E. Worley Louise Elaine Worley of Neodesha, KS, died Thursday, July 09, 2009, at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She was 81. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the United Methodist Church with Reverends Kris Brinlee and Leslie Griffith officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Harrison Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The daughter of Louis and Alfreda Bentley Erbe, she was born November 27, 1927, in Wilson County, Kansas. Louise was raised on a farm west of Thayer, KS. She attended rural schools until entering high school at Neodesha where she graduated as valedictorian in 1946. She was also the state spelling champion. Upon graduation, she received her teaching certificate and taught at Baumgardner School On June 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Glenn Edwin Worley in Thayer, KS. He preceded her in death November 11, 2004. Louise actively supported her husbands career at the First National Bank of Neodesha, KS. They raised their four children in Neodesha where Louise was active in both the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was active in the United Methodist Church in Neodesha where she and Ed served as Lay Ministers for several years. She also was active in the UMW and taught Sunday School as well. She was an active member in the Eastern Star and tutored grade school children in the After School Reading Program. Louise loved to spend time with her family, sew, quilt and read good mystery novels. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing with Ed. Survivors include two sons, Rob Worley and his wife Martha of Conway, Arkansas, and Rick Worley and his wife Susan of Prairie Village, KS; two daughters, Jane Worley of Kansas City, MO, and Ardis Cook and her husband Martin of Shawnee, KS; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son Jack, and one brother, Fred Erbe. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Neodesha and may be left at the funeral home.
