Lorene Wallace Hawkins of Neodesha, KS, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, KS. She was 90. Cremation has taken place under the direction PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Family inurnment will be held August 07, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Grenola Cemetery in Grenola, KS. The daughter of Roy and Lou Bell Wallace, she was born December 4, 1919, in rural Cedarvale, KS. She received her education in Cedarvale. On November 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lester Hawkins. He preceded her in death May 27, 2005. Mrs. Hawkins was a nurses aid and was employed for many years at the hospital in Winfield, KS. She moved to Neodesha in 2003 with her husband due to their declining health. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Winfield and later Church of Christ in Neodesha. Survivors include one daughter, Joana White and her husband Steve of Thayer, KS two sons, Ed Hawkins and his wife Sharon of Wasola, MO, and David Hawkins and his wife Marie of Chanute, KS one brother Ward Wallace of Mobile, AL, one sister, Darlene Harper of Arkansas City, KS seven grandchildren nine greatgrandchildren two greatgreatgrandchildren and a caregiver, Keith Baker of Neodesha. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents two brothers, one sister, and one greatgranddaughter, Keegan White. Memorial contributions may be Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Coffeyville, KS and may be left at the funeral home.
