Mr. Loren G. Collins, 84, life long resident of Altoona, Kansas died early Tuesday morning at Fredonia Regional Hospital, Fredonia, Kansas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Verdigas Valley Christian Fellowship with Reverend Jim Raymond officiating. A private family interment will be at the Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call to register at PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel Neodesha from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010, with family receiving friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Alzheimer Foundation and can be left at the funeral home. Loren G. Collins was born January 27, 1926 at Rich Hill, Missouri, the son of William R. and Eva Mae Holtzclaw Collins. He attended schools and graduated from Altoona High in Altoona, Kansas. He worked for Imco and Southeast in Neodesha and retired in1988 where he then worked his hardest at fishing, hunting, and trapping. He married Peggy Orene Dickens Collins in Fredonia, Kansas on May 19, 1950, and Mrs. Collins survives at the home. They had celebrated 60 years of marital bliss this year. He was a member of the Fur Harvesters Association of Kansas. Mr. Collins is additionally survived by two sons Mike Collins of Altoona, Kansas and Chuck Collins of San Jose, California, three daughters Eva Shay amp husband Mike and Ellen Smith and husband Jim of Altoona, Kansas and Terri Halfmann and husband Bert of Burlington, Kansas, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Bertie Follick and a brother Paul Collins, two granddaughters Shylene Smith and Sara Collins and a greatgranddaughter Shaylee Collins
