Leona Foster

Leona Marie Foster passed away surrounded by her family at Eagle Estate's on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Visitation is set for Wednesday, November 1st at Loran Fawcett Chapel from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary beginning at 6:00. Family will be greeting friends following the rosary until 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Thursday, November 2nd at 10:00 am with graveside following at the Neodesha Cemetery.
Leona Marie Foster was born on October 30, 1931 to Robert and Nellie (Johnson) Marler in Neodesha, KS. Leona graduated from Neodesha High School in 1949. In 1949, Leona had the distinction of holding the crown for Miss Coffeyville. She married the love of her life, William Scott Foster on December 31, 1950. Bill's sales and marketing position required Leona and Bill to relocate several times throughout the years. They lived in Wichita, KS, Pittsburg, KS, Danville, IL, Independence, KS, Kansas City, KS, Omaha, NE, Great Bend, KS, Tulsa, OK, Grove, OK, El Dorado, KS, and Neodesha, Kansas. During their travels, they welcomed three children, Cheryl, Timothy, and Tobin. Leona had several hobbies she enjoyed through the years; gardening, bird watching, flowers, nature, and playing cards. Bill and Leona were Life Grandmasters at Bridge, but her true passion was her family and her faith in God.
Those left to cherish her memory, husband, William Foster, of Independence, KS, son, Tobin Foster and wife Patricia, of Sand Springs, OK, daughter, Cheryl Jean Foster, of Independence, KS, ex-daughter-in-law, Cherie Wright Foster, of Hutchinson, Kansas, grandchildren, Tobin Scott Foster, Todd Alfred Foster, William Robert Foster, Timothy Luke Foster, Jacob Tyler Foster, Kevin James Foster, Cody Shane Waymire, and Ashley Matthews, and six great grandchildren.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nellie (Johnson) Marler, son, Timothy Scott Foster, sister, Juanita Jean Carpenter, and brother, Robert Alfred Marler, and brother-in-law, James Carpenter. The family has asked that memorials by left to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left with Loran Fawcett Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com.
