Lawrence Forsythe

Lawrence, Larry, D. Forsythe Jr., 74 of rural Neodesha passed away at his home Thursday, August 21, 2014. At his request, his body has been given to the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, September 6th, from 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. at the St. Ignatius Church Parish Hall. Memorials are suggested to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Coffeyville, Kansas, the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library of Neodesha, or the Catholic Charities which may be left at the Loran Fawcett Chapel.
Larry was born November 15, 1939 in Garnett, Kansas to Lawrence Dale and Helen Marian Thompson Forsythe. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1957. Larry and Linda Lantz were united in marriage on August 28, 1959 in Chanute, Kansas. Together they celebrated almost 55 years of marriage. Larry received his masters degree in Education from Emporia State University. He was a basketball coach and Social Science teacher at Beverly Rural High School, Glasco High School, Cloud County Community College, Salina South High School, and the Southeast of Saline High School. From 1983 1988 Larry was the high school principle at Neodesha. From 1988 1993 he was the principle at Paola High School, Paola, Kansas. From 1993 2001 Larry was employed with the Balfour Company. Larry and Linda retired to Neodesha, Kansas on 2000. He returned to coaching and teaching for a couple of years in Neodesha. He served on the Independence Country Club board of directors and on the Neodesha school board. He coached golf at Independence Community College from 2007 until his health failed in 2014. He received many awards during his years in education and coaching.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons Lawrence Lanny Dale Forsythe III and his wife Rhonda of Neodesha, and Lantz Harlan Forsythe and wife Neysa of Viola, Kansas. Granddaughters: Amber Kay Forsythe, Wichita, KS, Heather Ann Neuschafer and husband Johnathon, Lenexa, KS, Alexis Leigh Forsythe, Viola, KS. Grandsons: Hayden Lantz Forsythe and Hunter Evan Forsythe, great grandson, Evan Lantz Klasumeyer, Viola, KS,. Two brothers, Charles Forsythe, Wichita, KS and Douglas Forsythe, Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.
