Lavera J. Lyon Lavera June Lyon of Neodesha, KS, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at the Golden Living Center. She was 90. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the United Methodist Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9 a.m.8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 68 p.m. The daughter of Glenn L. and Laura M. Rohwer Worley, she was born June 15, 1921, in Earlton, KS. She graduated from Chanute High School. She completed two years study at the Chanute Community College. On May 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Edwin G. Lyon in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2007. Prior to her marriage, she was a teacher in Neosho County rural schools. After having lived in Chanute and Osawatomie, KS, she moved with her husband to Neodesha in 1954 where she was a homemaker for a number of years. She later assumed a position in medical records at the Wilson County Hospital. After 15 years of service, she retired in 1983 as the administrator of medical records. Mrs. Lyon was a member of the United Methodist Church, PEO, Order of the Eastern Star, the Neodesha Music Club and Girl Scouts of America. Survivors include one son, Brian Douglas Lyon and his wife Kathy of Albuquerque, NM two daughters, Lucinda K. Hubbard and her husband Jim of Ft. Collins, CO, and Julie Ann Caspers and her husband Steve of Topeka, KS one sister Winifred Fail of Chanute, KS six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edwin and Leland Worley. Memorial contributions are suggested to either the United Methodist Church or the Lyon Scholarship Fund in care of the Neodesha Alumni Association.
