Lavanda DeLee Ramey-Marrs, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, at the Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on December 3,1932, in Wyndotte, Oklahoma, to James Myers and Lydia Myers-Ervin.
Lavanda's life was characterized by her deep faith and unwavering love for Jesus, which she often embraced with equal passion for music. Her warm personality endeared her to all who knew her. She was known for her dedication to her family and community, working as a cook in North Lawn while also providing tax services and taking on the vital role of a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Wheeler (Tom) and Beverly Hendrix; her sons, Harvey Ramey Jr. (Ange), James Ramey (Annie), Paul Ramey, and Robert Ramey; her step-daughter Jamie Kuhn (Fred); and her step-son Jimmy Marrs. She also leaves behind her brothers, John Edison, John Ervin, and Marion "Buzz" Ervin; her sisters, Alzada Heartherly and Sherlene Bolin; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will remember her fondly.
Lavanda was predeceased by her parents James Myers and Lydia Myers-Ervin, first husband Harvey Ramey Sr., second husband Jim Marrs, her step-father Sherman Ervin, her brothers Charles Myers, Charles Ervin, Eldon Ervin, George Ervin, JC Myers, and her sisters Mary Ann Cook and Wilma McKibben, daughter-in-law Cherryll Ramey, two step-grandsons Josh Grabner and Rick Grabner, and step-daughter Linda Richards, all of whom she holds in everlasting love.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality; Lavanda enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching old westerns and game shows, finding joy in the familiar episodes, even if they played on repeat. Her spirit will live on through the memories she created with her loved ones.
Lavanda DeLee Ramey-Marrs will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and faith will continue to impact the lives of those she touched.
