Janice Pierce

September 24, 1944 — November 25, 2016

Janice M (Waldron) Pierce age 72, of Altoona, passed away on November 25, 2016 at Journey Home in Bartlesvillle, OK.

Janice was born on September 24, 1944 in Neodesha to Lloyd and Anna (Hall) Waldron. Janice attended school in Altoona, and later continued her education at Neosho County Community College receiving her nursing certificate as a licensed practical nurse. Through her brother Janice was introduced to Lewis Pierce and the couple married on May 6, 1962. To this union the couple was blessed with three sons. Janice first began her career as a nurse for the Dr's office, then went to the Wilson County Hospital, and then as a geriatrics in the nursing homes where she retired. She was a very kind and loving person, she was everybody's favorite aunt, family or not. Janice enjoyed working in her flower garden, crafts, antiques, reupholstering, and her favorite hobby was her grandchildren. There really wasn't a task that she wasn't willing to take on, from running a tractor bush hogging to jumping in a pond to save a horse, all the while have dinner ready for the family.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband Lewis, sons Mike Pierce, his wife Kelle, Mark Pierce, his wife Shelly, Kendall Pierce, his wife Heather, Brother Dennis Waldron, grandchildren, Chance, Chad, Tyler, Kendall, and Anna Pierce, Amy McDowell, Brittany Clines, and Kristen VanWinkle, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald and Gary "Gabby" Waldron, sisters Betty Waggoner, Bonnie Kern, Cherol Bryan, and Pamela Waldron, and a great-grandchild.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Altoona Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Raymond of Verdigris Valley Christian Church officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Loran Fawcett Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
