James H Marrs, 91, of Neodesha, KS. passed away Tuesday February 20, 2018 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor in Parsons, KS.
A celebration of life service will be Monday February 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at Christ Church in Neodesha, KS. Visitation will be Sunday February 25, 2018 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm with the family receiving friends from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS.
James H Marrs was born May 21,1926 in Iola, KS. and was adopted by James and Julia Marrs of Iola, KS. James attended school in Neodesha and lived in Neodesha for most of his life. In 1960 James was united in marriage to Mary Alice Roles. They made their home in Neodesha and later divorce. In 1975 James was united in marriage to Ileta Taylor who preceded him in death in 1986. James went work for the United States Postal Service in 1965 and worked for them for 20 years as a letter carrier and retired in 1985. On July 11, 2001 in Neodesha, KS. James was united in marriage to Lavanda Delee (Ramey) at Christ Church, Delee survives of the home.
James loved to go camping and fishing and loved to garden and work in the yard. He also loved to mow grass, and had a lawn service in Neodesha for several years. He most likely mowed every lawn in town. James loved to tell stories, joke and laugh with his friends. Jim loved to sing, play music on guitar, fiddle, keyboard and many other instruments. Jim wrote some of his own songs and loved to sing with his wife Delee and their friends, he loved to sing country music and hymns. And he loved to sing praises to God. Most of all he loved spending time with his loving family and his grandchildren and his many great grandchildren and friends.
James is survived by his wife Delee of the home, one son James D Marrs of Chanute, KS. 4 step-sons Jim Ramey and wife Annie of Independence, KS. Robert Ramey and wife Cherrell of Fredonia, KS. Harvey Ramey Jr. and wife Ange of Fredonia, KS. and Paul Ramey and wife Trina of Neodesha, KS. One daughter Jamie Kuhn and husband Fred of Buffalo, KS and 3 step daughters Linda Wheeler and husband Tom of Neodesha, KS. Beverly Hendrix of Columbus, KS. and Angel Horn of Neodesha, KS. and 22 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents and 2 daughters Linda Marrs, Terri Carter and a great granddaughter Maryia Baker and a great grandson Denton Marrs.
