HELEN MARIE OSBURN Helen Marie Osburn, age 79, of Neodesha, Kansas died October 31, 2002 at the Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Helen was born March 5, 1923 in Neodesha, Kansas to Frank O. and Myrtle Seaunier Smalley. Helen grew up in the Neodesha area and attended the Morehead School System graduating from the Morehead High School in 1941. Helen later graduated from Independence Community College in 1969 as a Nurses Aid. On August 11, 1942 Helen married Marvin R. Osburn and he preceded her in death December 31, 1988. Helen worked at ACC in the Shipping department before retiring after 11 12 years. For numerous years on Memorial Day, Helen and Marvin would travel to eight cemeteries in five counties and place flowers on approximately 75 graves of relatives and friends. She continued this ritual with her family members after Marvinamp;s death. Survivors include one daughter, Diana and her husband, Jack McPhail of Wichita, Kansas; two sons, Gary Osburn and his wife, Debbie of San Antonio, Texas and Larry Osburn and his wife, Betty of Picayune, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Michael Casement, Joanne Casement, Kajene Lewis, Richard Osburn, Jalayn Maldonado, Scotty Osburn, Larry Joe Osburn, Dallas Osburn, and Stuart Osburn; and two sisters, Ilah Bennett of Puyallup, Washington and Irene Gudde of Neodesha, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lloyd Smalley and three infant sisters. Visitation hours for Mrs. Osburn will be Sunday, November 3, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home, Neodesha, Kansas. Graveside services for Helen Marie Osburn will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2002 at the Harrison Cemetery, northeast of Neodesha, Kansas. Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate her service. The family has suggested a memorial contribution to the First Christian Church, Neodesha, Kansas.
