HELEN BOWEN Helen Katherine Bowen of Neodesha, Kansas, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Beverly Health and Rehab. She was 85 Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Delbert Calloway will officiate. Friends may call Monday from noon-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The daughter of Sterling and Tennessee Collins Weedn, she was born July 13, 1919, in Leigh, Oklahoma. She graduated from Leigh High School in 1934 and then attended Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to J.W. Bowen on February 6, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. J.W. and Helen moved from Mannford, Oklahoma, to Neodesha in 1951. He preceded her in death February 9, 1991. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker and attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Neodesha. Survivors include three son, Jim Bowen of Wichita, KS, Jerry Bowen of Colony, KS, and Bill Bowen of Independence, KS; two daughters, Sherry Matlock of Parker, TX, and LaDonna Poulter of Sand Springs, OK; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and one grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Awanas and may be left at the funeral home.
