Glenna Powell

Glenna Marie Powell, 95 passed away at her home in Hazelton, Idaho on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 27th at 9:00 AM with the Reciting of the Rosary at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will then follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Neodesha City Cemetery.

Glenna Marie Powell was born on October 13, 1923 in Neodesha, Kansas to Alexis and Vera (Green) Thompson. She grew up and attended the Neodesha schools. On March 30, 1941 in Neodesha, Marie married Robert Powell after he had returned from World War II. Robert and Marie made their home in Neodesha until 1969 when the refinery shut down and Robert transferred to Dickenson, Texas. After Robert’s passing in 2013, Marie moved to Independence, Kansas and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Marie loved to sew, read, sing around the house, tend to her flower garden and work outside. Most of all Marie loved the time she got to spend with her family. She just adored the time she got to spend with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexis and Vera Thompson, step-father, Arthur Barcus, brother, Edwin Thompson, and grandson, Wade McCaslin.

Marie’s memory will carry on with her daughters, Lynda and husband Glenn McCaslin, Sheila Anderes, and Marsha Shultz, sister, Beverly Gibson, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
