Glenn L. Jones Glenn LeBurton Jones of Neodesha, KS, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at the Wilson Medical Center Reece Campus. He was 87. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church under the direction of PenwellGabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Stephen Thapwa will officiate. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Mr. Jones will lie in state from 15 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. The son of Bert and Nellie CulbertsonJones, he was born March 1, 1924, in Altoona, KS. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1942. He attended Washington State College in 1943. He served United States Army Air Corps from 194345. He flew out of Italy as a tail gunner on a B17. On April 18, 1942, he was united in marriage to Vera Grace Hasty in Sedan, KS. She preceded him in death in 1979. He married Maxine Secrest on Sept. 28, 1979. She preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2010. Glenn was employed as both a city and rural postal carrier for over 30 years. He also was employed as a realtor for the Real Estate Center in Independence for several years. He served on the Wilson County Commission for 12 years. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, a lifetime member of both VFW Post 1596 and the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge 94 A.F. A.M., the Neodesha Jaycees, and he was a past VFW Third District Chaplain. Survivors include one son, Gary Jones and his wife Alberta of Lebo, KS, and their children, Karla, Shelli, and Alisha two daughters, Sharon Wright and her husband Charles of Grove, OK, and their children, Todd and Troy and Charlotte Shultz and her late husband Grover of Olathe, KS, and their children, Stephanie and Rhonda four stepchildren, Terry Secrest of Neodesha, KS, Christine Porter of Wichita, KS, Ronnie Secrest of Thailand, and Gary Secrest of Dixon, MO 20 greatgrandchildren 11 stepgrandchildren two greatgreatgrandchildren and 20 stepgreatgrandchildren. In addition to his wives, he is preceded in death by his parents one brother, Lewis two sisters, Doris Burkhart and Irene Simms and three greatgrandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wilson Medical Center Foundation.
