Glenda Kaye Tallman Huff, born November 2, 1946 died peacefully, yet unexpectedly, at her home at the age of 67 on May 30th, 2014.
She is survived by Gary, her husband of 49 years, 11 months and 10 days. She is also survived by her son Tim Huff and wife Sheri of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and daughter Tina Huff Wojcik and husband Rob of Cameron Park, California. Her grandchildren Meredith, Savannah, Amelia, Jared and Jase were the pride of her heart.
Surviving siblings are sister Marquetta Gowing and husband John of Joplin, Missouri, brother, Don Tallman and wife Alyce of Parsons, Kansas, sister Vickey Brandal of Joplin, Missouri and sister Edwinna Brantley and husband Kevin of Gilbert, Arizona.
Glenda graduated from Parsons High School in 1964. Recently she belonged to the Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary. In 1996, Glenda organized the local chapter of Victory in the Valley cancer support group, having personally benefited from the services provided there.
Glendas life was centered on her husband, family, children, grandchildren and her love of the Lord. Prior to her life being impacted by the ravages of cancer, she was continually active in teaching Sunday school, Childrens Church, First Baptist Church BYU in Neodesha and the city recreation programs in the summers. She could always be counted on to do what needed to be done, ensuring that any project she put her hand to would be effective and reach the desired goals. Her fondness for reading prompted her nearly 20 years of service as a Library Aide at Heller Elementary in Neodesha and ultimately led to her becoming the Director of the Rankin Memorial Library of Neodesha for five years.
Glendas battle with cancer changed the level of her activity in midlife, but failed to claim her cando spirit and determination. Her husband, Gary, was her rock and anchor through this valley of the shadow of death. God gave them strength sufficient enough to walk through those dark days of fearfulness. Following her subsequent years of cancer rechecks and final pronouncement of remission, Glenda once again discovered unique ways she could serve God with her talents by sharing her cancer experience with others beginning their walk thru the valley. She brightened the days of countless elderly people by visiting with them and helping them create craft decorations for the rooms and hallways of local nursing homes and retirement homes. Her greatest wish was to portray Gods love through her life.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Christ Church of Neodesha, Kansas with Pastor Kevin McCarty officiating, services are under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel. Interment will be at the Neodesha City Cemetery following the service.
It is due to the fact that Glenda has been impacted by many friends through her years in southeastern Kansas and has in turn touched many lives in return that her family asks that any memorials be in the form of donation to one of these organizations Victory in the Valley of Wichita, Kansas Wilson Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary Rankin Memorial Library.
