Gladys Clanton

Gladys M. Clanton Gladys May Clanton of Neodesha, Kansas, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Wilson County Hospital. She was 87. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. Friends may call to view and register on Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. The daughter of Robert E. and Margaret Ellen Totman Jackson, she was born October 9, 1918, in Arcadia, Kansas. She moved with her family to Neodesha at an early age where she received her education. On June 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to John Alfred Clanton in Fredonia, KS. He preceded her in death April 13, 1995. Mrs. Clanton was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Jimmie Clanton of Muscatine, Iowa; two daughters, Janice Marten of Neodesha and Judy Mann of Bernice, OK; two sisters, Betty Hill of Holcomb, KS, and Ruth Hall of Lake Havasu City, AZ; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Bud, Johnny, Bill, Shorty, Frank, Fred and Harvey; and one sister, Avis.
