George E. Irvine, 86, of Neodesha passed away Wednesday evening, October 8, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas.
At his request, cremation will take place and there will be no memorial services. Memorials are suggested to the W.A. Rankin Library and can be left at Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha.
George was born June 10, 1928 in Neodesha to Louis E. and Harriet Highley Irvine. He grew up and attended school in Neodesha. He married Pricilla Lewellan on March 13, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma, she survives. They lived in Potwin and Wichita, Kansas before moving back to Neodesha in 1983.
George worked at the Vickers Refinery in Potwin for 6 years and Vulcan Chemicals in Wichita for 7 years and after moving back to Neodesha, he was the custodian for the W.A. Rankin Library until his health failed.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 1952 in Fredonia. He served in the U.S Army 1950 to 1952 in Korea. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, James and wife Jeanne Irvine of Neodesha, sister Virginia and husband Leslie Buck Manning of Tampa, Florida, four nieces and nephews.
