GAYLE JEANNE ALLEN Gayle Jeanne Allen, age 71 of Neodesha, Kansas died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Wilson County Hospital. Gayle was born February 27, 1932 in Neodesha, Kansas to Charles and Lucile Clark Killion. Gayle grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and graduated from the Neodesha High School in 1950. She also graduated from Independence Community College with an Associates of Arts degree in 1992. On October 7, 1951 Gayle married Max M. Allen in Neodesha, Kansas where they made their home. Gayle was a homemaker and worked various jobs and volunteer postitions, She cooked at the Neodesha Nursing Home, was a contributor for the Neodesha Sun with a weekly column called Cook of the Week, she was a child care provider, was a substitute teacher for the Neodesha School District, delivered flowers for Newland Floral, worked at Norman 1 Museum where she developed a field trip presentation for elementary students., taught a toddleramp;s Sunday School Class at the Neodesha United Methodist Church for nearly 15 years, was involved in PTA, coached a girls softball team, was a member of Music Club and sang in the Madrigal choir, she was a member of the Neodesha United Methodist Church and Neodesha United Methodist Women serving as president for several years, and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Gayle had many hobbies including, photography, camping, cake decorating and baking cinnamon rolls. Survivors include her husband Max of the home; one son David Edward Allen of Derby, Ks; three daughters Meredith Jeanne Allen Fiscus of Mound Valley, Kansas, Nancy Elizabeth Allen Estes of Independence, Kansas and Mary Charlene Allen Hughes of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters Bonita Reece Merrill of Grand Junction, Colorado and Glenna Craig of Kingman, Kansas; grandchildren Tony Allen, Jennifer Perryman, Melinda Taylor, Joshua Fiscus, Tami Fiscus, Roxanne Estes, Keith Estes, Ashley Hughes and Abby Hughes; great grandchildren Meredith Tristan Taylor and Gavriela Perryman. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Edith Charlene Killion. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at the Neodesha United Methodist Church with Rev. Kris Brinlee officiating under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Celebration of Gayleamp;s life immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. Visitation hours will be held from 8;00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004 and Friday, February 20, 2004 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Neodesha United Methodist Church and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
