FRED Z. FORSLUND Fred Z. Forslund, 69 , of rural Neodesha, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Via Christi Medical Center, St Francis Campus, Wichita, Kansas. Fred was born November 16, 1935 in Chanute, Kansas to Palmer and Mildred Baker Forslund. He was reared in Chanute where he attended and graduated from Chanute High School in 1953. He attended Chanute Junior College and following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and transfered to the U.S. Air Force Officer Candidate School. Following the service, he attended Pittsburg State University and received his Bachelors Degree in Art and Education and a Secondary Degree in Pyschology. He was selected as a distinguished member of Whos Who in the United States. Fred married Twyla Bennett on April 4, 1964 in Seneca, Missouri. Fred taught college art classes at P.S.U.. He was Art Director for Pittcraft, Inc in Pittsburg, Kansas; Kustom Electronics in Chanute, Kansas; Birdview Satelite in Chanute and Cobalt Boats in Neodesha. He retired in 1998. He also was a subsitute teacher and worked at the Neodesha Chamber Museum. He was a member of the Christian Church, Masonic Harmony Lodge 94 of Neodesha; Mirza Temple, Pittsburg. Fred is survived by his wife, Twyla of rural Neodesha, Kansas; one son, Zack Forslund of Neodesha, Kansas; one daughter, Rene Hines of Independence, Kansas; one brother, John V. Forslund of Paola, Kansas; two sisters, Janice Akers of Chanute, Kansas and Terry Walker of Pittsburg, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Bryson and Corbin Hines of Independence, Kansas and Nikki and Ryan Hanna of Neodesha, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation hours for Fred will be held Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Fred Z. Forslund will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 04, 2005 at the First Christian Church, Neodesha, Kansas with Pastor Gene Benefield of the Buxton Christian Church officiating.
