FRANKIE L. GILBERT Frankie L. Gilbert age 81, of Rose Hill, Kansas formerly of New Albany, Kansas died Tuesday, August 16, 2004 at her home in Rose Hill, Kansas. Frankie was born May 14, 1923 in New Albany, Kansas to Glenn Ogle and Rachel White Sissom. She grew up in New Albany, Kansas until moving to the Wichita Area she graduated from the Wichita East High School. After graduation Frankie worked as a telephone operator during World War II, Frankie then worked for Sunshine Biscuits as a book keeper, and later for her father at Gilberts Construction. Frankie then received her Nursing Degree and worked for Wesley Medical Center for 25 years. She was ambassador at Wesley Medical Center and worked for the Red Cross, She also taught Literacy Class out of her home and was active in the Linwood Senior Citizens group. Survivors include one son Robert Bob and his wife JoAnne Gilbert of Rose Hill, Kansas; two grandchildren Joshua and wife Amy Gilbert of Wichita, Kansas, Sarah Gilbert of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren Ezabella and Robert Sterling Gilbert of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one sister Karen Oamp;Bryant of Texas and one brothers Rod Sissom; She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Tom Sissom. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the New Albany Cemetery in New Albany, Kansas under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel.
