Frances Allene Depew, 98, of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at Morningstar Care Homes in Neodesha, Kansas.
Frances Allene Depew was born February 3, 1924, in Coffeyville to Cecil Allen and Elsie (Waddelow) Crisp. She attended Coffeyville schools graduating from Field Kinley High School and Coffeyville Community College. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Kansas, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and Phi Chi Theta Women’s Business Fraternity.
After graduation she worked in the Law Office of Aubrey Neale and Judge Raymond Belt.
On March 27, 1951, she was united in marriage at Coffeyville to Harry L. Depew. They moved to Neodesha after his service in Korea when he opened his law office in January 1953. She worked as the executive assistant to the president of the First National Bank in Neodesha for two years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Chapter T, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Wilson Medical Center Auxiliary as well as a life member of the KU Alumni Association. She was also a former member of Metro Anns, the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library Board of Trustees, the North Lawn P.T.A., a Cub Scout Den Mother, Sunday School teacher and the Neodesha Arts Association.
Raising and being involved with her family was her top priority in life. She is survived by son Douglas Depew, his wife Debbie, their children Philip and Emily Depew, and son Dennis Depew, his wife Shirley, and their children Derek Depew and wife Josey Depew, and Davy Depew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harry, on August 31, 2005.
The family will host a visitation on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the United Methodist Church, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at the Neodesha Cemetery following the service.
