ETHEL MAY SMITH Ethel May Smith, 89, of Neodesha, Kansas passed away, Friday evening, August 12, 2005 at the Golden Keys Nursing Home, Neodesha, Kansas. Ethel was born October 08, 1915 in Berryville, Arkansas to Charles K. and Ethel M. Beidelman Tyler. Her mother passed away when she was about 2 years old. Her father remarried and was raised by her step mother, Ethel and after Charless death, her step father, Cecil Boster. She was raised and educated in Berryville, Arkansas where she graduated from high school. On November 29, 1934, Ethel married J. Lerch Smith in Berryville, Arkansas and they made their home in Neodesha. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Neodesha. She is survived by her husband J. Lerch Smith of Neodesha, Kansas; one son, Kenneth Smith of Independence, Kansas; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandsons. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her step parents; one grandson; and one great grandson. Visitation hours for Ethel will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2005 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Graveside services for Ethel May Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Neodesha Cemetery with the Reverend Marcie Campbell of the First Presbyterian Church of Neodesha officiating. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Golden Keys Nursing Home. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.
