Dorothy Evelyn (Beeman) Singhurst, 99 of Neodesha, Kansas passed away peacefully at Neodesha Care and Rehab on Monday, January 15, 2024.
The only daughter of Ray and Ava (Surman) Beeman, Dorothy was born on November 21, 1924, in Fredonia, Kansas. Dorothy attended the Thayer and Neodesha school systems and on March 1, 1942, she married the love of her life, Louis Charles Singhurst in Girard, Kansas. Through the years Dorothy and Louis lived in Colorado and Nebraska before making their home in Neodesha.
Dorothy was a lifetime member of the First Church of God later renamed to the Lighthouse Community Church of God, devoted weekly member of the women’s prayer group in Neodesha, Kansas. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Sunflower Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy always had fond memories of riding into town on a horse and buggy from her grandparents farm east of town into Neodesha to trade butter, creamer, and eggs for other goods. Dorothy also loved participating in her youth and as an adult in the annual Thayer homecoming parade and activities. Dorothy was an amazing cook and baker and loved making her grandkids, their favorite dessert. She loved traveling around southeast Kansas shopping and finding deals at garage sales. Most of all she loved her family, one of her favorite times of the years was Christmas where her family got together and shared stories and laughed.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Louis Singhurst, son, Ronnie Singhurst, parents, Ray C. and Ava Beeman, and brother, Ray L. Beeman.
Her memory will carry on with her daughter, Pam Fields, grandsons, Shane Fields, Justin Fields, and Jason Singhurst, nine grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way. Funeral services will be held at the Lighthouse Community Church of God, 816 Iowa St. Neodesha, KS 66757, with Les Griffith officiating on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm with burial immediately following at Neodesha City Cemetery.
