Donald R. Fail Donald Roger. Fail, 82, of Altoona, Kansas, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha, KS. He was 82. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha. Interment will be in Altoona Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by Ft. Riley, Kansas. Friends may call to view and register Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. The son of George Roy and Bessie Ramp Fail, he was born May 18, 1924, in Rural Altoona, KS. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1943 and was a lifelong resident of the Altoona area. On August 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Miriam C. Gronquist in Fredonia, KS. She survives at the home. Mr. and Mrs. Fail farmed together for their entire married life. He was also a welder for MEC for 20 years and was the foreman of Warehouse 2. Mr. Fail served with the US Army during WWII and was stationed at Schofield Barracks at Pearl Harbor later in the war. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles Richard Fail and his wife Freida of Phoenix, AZ, and Randall Rodger Fail of Chanute, KS; two brothers, W. O. Fail and his wife Winifred and Marion Fail and his wife Nancy, both of Chanute; one sister, Juanita Fusco of Berryton, KS; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Frank Greve of Thayer, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Carolyn and Linda; two brothers, Ivan and Louis; and one sister, Reva Jean Amrine.
